It's hard hat time.....

They sure are. We saw some really huge acorns in the woods in Marlton that we were at yesterday.

Got two big oakers in the back yard. Acorns are constantly bouncing off the roof and deck. Very annoying. Here I thought it was just the squirrels predicting a rough winter.

I really haven't had any chigger problems since the hurricane... it's weird because they were driving me crazy in the same places before that. The acorns have only just begun to fall here, and so far they don't seem any different from recent years.

My wife and I just spent a week in the eastern Kentucky mountains. Hiked every day. No ticks, no chiggers, no bugs, nice weather. Got back Saturday night. Took a walk in the pines on Sunday, high humidity, got chigged pretty good, and bombarded by acorns when I walked through some oaks. It was like machine gun fire they were falling so fast. Plus mosquitoes galore. Welcome home! :)
Can't wait to get out in the canoe and do some Pickerel fishing.

Looks like you made a good investment after all.

It is looking like I did ;)

Another winter forecast came out.

Two cords of firewood are finally split and stacked on the porch. Maybe it's time to start cutting a third? At least we aren't in the "worst" zone. :)
