Like many of you, I have wondered for years about the name "Jemima Mount" -site of a geodetic survey marker-but hardly a mountain ! (I seem to recall checking the elevation once -many years ago-and coming up with a "lofty" 100' .)
Keeping in mind some of the early "Pineys" had a humorous turn of mind (Why else would you name an ordinary run "Stop That Jade Run" ? ) , is it not possible the site marks the spot where a woman ---or perhaps a critter - got "mounted" ....in view of an unexpected audience ?
