this summer i was thinking instead of working at pep boys, why not try something a little more interesting. does anyone have any information about getting a summer job with the parks department working somewhere in the pine barrens? i dont care what the job is... i can learn. i just thought that it might help me figure out what i want to do with my life concerning a college major or even a potential career. i am a high school graduate with some college education (current student). i am sure i can get some sort of job, maybe even an internship?

Just stop in at the Batsto Visitors Center or the Atsion Ranger Station, or the office at any state park or forest, and ask. They have summer-seasonal jobs in building and grounds maintenance, and other things. I was summer-seasonal building and grounds for the summers of 1985, 86, 87 and 89, at Atsion the first summer and Batsto for the rest.
You don't get benifits and you can't join the union, the work is great.
