Fall colors coming in fast. About 1/4? mile east of the RR on the south side of the South Branch.
I t was discussed, At one time it was standing up. It was a Halloween skeletal horseI had to go back, I wanted to see what the South Branch looked like close to the Parkway. But first, here is something puzzling from the Middle Branch. I'm not sure if we discussed this before, my memory could be failing me, but I don't recall it.

I should ask Wells Mills park if they'd get rid of it if I dragged it in. I hate it being there.I t was discussed, At one time it was standing up. It was a Halloween skeletal horse
Is German still there?I should ask Wells Mills park if they'd get rid of it if I dragged it in. I hate it being there.
No, he retired. And it seems he's off the grid too (something we all think of doing). Is German still there?
Bob. I gave it a shot, but I don't know. That green spike sure looks familiar, though. But that's ok, as of today, roaming the Pines alone looking for rare plants is over.
You always say that Ron. You'll be out there again.Bob. I gave it a shot, but I don't know. That green spike sure looks familiar, though. But that's ok, as of today, roaming the Pines alone looking for rare plants is over.
Yes. I saw it where you told me to look for it out near Bamber. That was back in May 2019 when it was in bloom.Euphorbia ipecacuanhae
The 1995 aerial makes it look like a development was planned there.By the way, this is puzzling. I’m curious to know why this area South of the South Branch is dug in rows like it is. It was done prior to the 1970’s. It's near 150 acres by my calculation. The mounded part is something like 2 feet high, I think? Maybe blueberries?
Can't be Guy, the rows are only 30 feet apart, if that.
Looks like this is from the mid to late 1960s. The property was owned by Norman Finninger at the time. I am just guessing but perhaps they were mining a shallow layer of gravel for highway projects. The "mounds" might be the overburden or topsoil that was scraped away prior to removing the gravel. The Parkway already existed at the time so not sure if it would have been used there. Again, I am just guessing.By the way, this is puzzling. I’m curious to know why this area South of the South Branch is dug in rows like it is. It was done prior to the 1970’s.
