Just Tootling Along

This morning I made a trip to the pines to revisit the area in my earlier 'tootling' post. As I expected, a countless number of flowers were present. Being away for three weeks, I missed the prime time for two significant plants, Narthecium americanum and Tofieldia racemosa. With so many flowers, I only spent about 15 minutes and was very careful. On my way, I wanted to first check out two other spots. Habenaria cristata were present at the first stop. The second spot was within the Penn State Forest. There I found only one Calopogon tuberosus. Other years had many more. Then on my way home I made a quick stop to see how Platanthera blephariglottis were coming along.
