Forked River
Kayaked down the Wading from Hawkins to Godfrey with the kids yesterday. I realize it was a week day, but we only saw 7 other people total on the water or hanging out. Wading Pines campground was pretty sparse and quiet There were only a few people relaxing near Godfrey bridge and nobody at Hawkins bridge. The water level was very low, and for some long stretches I just walked and pulled the kayak behind me. Weather was perfect but the highlight was a turkey that was on 1 bank and when I approached put out its wings and ran/flew across the water to the other side. What was the bridge that goes across the river about halfway between the 2 bridges. You can see the pilings in the water.

OK, since my reply was answered rather quickly accurately on my last canoe trip. I will ask again about the Wading river. Today took the kids, wife and dog from Evans Bridge to Beaver Branch. Not far after launching there is the pilings from and old bridge (Old Evans Bridge Rd?) But further down there is some other piles right after the turn near the farming area/ equipment storage fields that buts up against the river I could not really see it on the 95 or 1930 aerial. I think there may even have been a 3 rd crossing too? Anyone familiar with this stretch of river?

I think what you might be seeing is are the pilings to the old Tuckerton Stage road bridge that crossed the Wading just above Bodine field at the old Bodines tavern?

It should show on the 1-meter LIDAR. There's some kind of depression here, could that be it?
