Whoo doggie, are you in for a treat. :)
Start with Atsion Lake, putin at N 39.44.787 W 74.45.853. Paddling through the ponds is a truly amazing experience.

Another great spot is Batsto Lake, if you have a GPS, the coordinates for the putins are near 39.660 W 074° 39.131. These coords are approximate so have a look a map.

Also nearby, you can paddle downstream through "The Forks" where the Batsto and Mullica Rivers meet. It's tidal, so pay attention to the tables and go at high tide. Putin near Pleasant Mills Rd at the Batsto River (you can drive downstream a little bit, as you pass Batsto Village heading East, there is a sandy road off to the right with a sign, drive in a bit and you can putin sorta near these coordinates:
N 39° 37.762 W 074° 38.605
Again, these are approximate coords. There's a bend in the river with a beach where you can park and get in the water.

There are so many places, but these three are good places to get your feet wet. Have fun and happy paddling!

kayaks are a ton of fun !!

one of the things i miss about south jersey

if your are new to kayaking i would suggest looking at the internet for "the outdoor club of south jersey" and looking at their kayaking schedule. look for the ones by George and leona, two great people

like i said, tons of fun even if you find yourself bottom side up at times ! LOL

I've paddled the Batsto and Mullica many times myself. One trip I like to do if I want to only take one vehicle and not retrace any of my route is to start at the Batsto millpond put-in, portage around the sawmill, then go downstream to the Forks. I then paddle upstream on the Mullica, which is easy to do on that stretch due to the slight current. You can finish at the put-in on the south side of Rt 542, and walk 10-15 minutes to your car where you started. Part of the sretch on the Mullica has streamside homes on it, but it's still an interesting paddle.

I wanna try it there at Atsion Lake, that sounds like a good idea.

Yeah, I ended up going down a fast moving stream in the pines yesterday, but couldnt get back due to the current. Had to ditch the kayaks and walk a few miles back to the car, then return and get the kayaks.
/still had fun tho :D
