I still question the efficiency of handling the garbage twice. I do not see the distance being traveled by the trucks now to be that much longer than it would be to the transfer station. After all, the trash is hauled to northern Ocean County, not the Hackensack Meadowlands. And considering the fact that Little Egg Harbor is the southernmost municipality in the county, how can this possibly be more efficient? Rather than the garbage from participating towns getting hauled halfway across the county to the North, as it is now, it will be hauled halfway across the county to the South, dumped, re-loaded and hauled the whole way across the county to the North. Seems more like something Tony Soprano would have cooked up.
