This past weekend with the beautiful weather we had I went to Lakeland County Park. It's just north of Connetquot State Park, and they are connected via the "greenbelt trail" and a bridge under the LIRR (sorta looks like those cow tunnels).
They call it Lakeland as it is the headwaters of the Connetquot River, paths are mostly on boardwalks over the wetlands.

Following the path under the LIRR bridge you cross the wetlands again on a really low boardwalk into Connetquot Pk, unfortunately there is some damage to the boardwalk, and you have to either cross on an unstable wooden plank (which I did) or get your feet wet.
