I know Al and Whiporbill find this place close to their hearts and I have driven out there more than a few times in the middle of winter just to taste the cutting salt wind.
This is a link to a post in the Bass Barn.

The end is at hand for this little D Bay community.
If you haven't ever been there, I would go now to get some "then" pictures for a "then and now" compilation in a few years.

The bank stabilization material that you see in the video is an Armortec product that I am familiar with from some work projects.

It was no match for repeated wicked winter northwests off the D bay.

The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away.

Sad to see it go.Tis inevitable with rising sea levels I just hate the way the state thinks it is their decision when people must vacate. As long as the residents are willing to maintain the roads at their cost and are prepared to foot any rescue bills by helicopter or boat they should be able to fight the good fight till the bay eventually wins.

I will upload photos of my recent trip here. Absolutely Breathtaking. I was blown away. It did look like at least one resident still lived here. It was odd. Sea Breeze was a happening spot at the turn of the last century and it's sad to see it a ghost town now :(

Took my motorcycle from ATCO to Sea Breeze today (9/11). What a beautiful day for a ride. It was low tide and georgeous at Sea Breeze. I pictured myself in a camper at one of the raised home sites with a fishing rod right along the sea wall. There are even some shade trees there where the homes used to be. I wonder if the state would object to someone bringing a camper out there for a day or two. There are some truly good sites for a small or medium sized camper. I didn't see any "keep out" or "private property" signs in that area.

It is gorgeous there. I hope it stays this way. It is a wildlife preserve so not sure! Glad you took a nice ride and enjoyed it!

Scubabruce, the last word is no camping on f&g land. That said, I predict in a short period of time the south end of Seabreeze will become a chain of islands... maybe you could come by sea and claim one for your own.

You really think amf? They do have the protective barriers. Although on that end I think it is because of that back small bay/river in combination with the Delaware and just bad storms create the chaos of both involved. I think in our lifetime we won't see it under water. But who the heck knows. It is a wonderful, peaceful, serene place. I love it. The drive alone in is even worth it.

The seawall failed because they never addressed interior drainage - look at any place where it is collapsing, and its where runoff would pond against it. If they had graded to direct runoff to the ditch, I dare say it would not have failed as quickly as it did (although with all those bayshore towns its a question of when, not if, they go under). I've seen a marked increase in erosion just in the past two years, primarily at these areas where runoff concentrates; I'll bet a couple of good storms would do the trick. I must say, I'm kinda looking forward to some nice little islands!

I have two boats so islands work for me. I still think if someone took a camper out there, no one would bother them. Like I said, I didn't see any signs on the south end indicating it's the state's property, or no trespassing or anything.

You want a wild place on Delaware Bay? Go to Egg Island Point.I walked from Raybins beach and swam Fishermans crik, then walked, crawled around to False Egg Island Point and swam Straight crik (Which ain't) The walked two miles and waded two sand bottom criks across the beach to the point.(It would be much easier by boat by the way)You are out on the end of the world out there.from the point itself the only manmade object i remember seeing is east point lighthouse seven miles away across the cove and if it isn't crystal clear you won't see that.If you stay east of the point you will see nothing because false egg blocks the view of Fortescue.Just water, grass and on a clear day barely make out the wood line at Turkey Point. With binoculars you might make out the duck shacks or the platform at Turkey Point.

You said that right, Al! I used to duck hunt outta Turkey Point and Hansey Crik years ago, and up near Berrytown. Awesome place to run the ditches, as long as you catch the tide right!

I lived in Dividing crik as a kid and again in my 20;s I used to paddle up Hansey crik (owls nest)and down maple crik in a little plywood sneakbox I found abandoned in the marsh with a pole I made from knocking a small tree down. Many good memories and a few bad ones in that little town.
