A friend of mine and I visited Laurel Hill Cemetery yesterday, which rests above the Schuylkill River on the fringe of Philadelphia. We were on a bit of a photography mission, as this post will quickly reveal. I'm not sure how well I captured the area (my friend does much better; he uses infra-red film and his images are STUNNING), but this place is gorgeous (but poignantly so). Anybody here been there? It's only a few miles up Ridge Road from the Art Museum area. Seriously, this place is a must-must see.

Apologies ahead of time for photo manipulation. I couldn't help it. :)

Thanks for looking.

Neat photos. I plan on visiting there at some point. I have family buried in there.

Excellent pictures, thanks! That is such an amazing place.

Ironic how we tend to view the cemetery as dark and gothic, when the original intent of its design was to create a pleasant setting for the living to commune with nature and enjoy the refined garden and monument architecture.

Thanks for sharing they are great pics. You should visit the Laurel Hill in Bala Cynwyd. That one also has some great views.
