Ben and All,
I did a little investigating and found some info on the stream gaging station on the McDonalds branch in Lebanon Forest.

It first went into use in October of 1953 and records have been kept there ever since. It has been assigned the Station number of 01545600. I also found mention of a hike in Lebanon on October 26 1953 where 51 people led by a Jack McCormick had lunch at Deep Hollow Pond while listening to a talk by member of Rutgers University on the on the possible ecological implications of prescribed burning and the plants of the Pine Region Hydrological Research Project. They then were given a tour of both of the newly erected gaging stations by Henry Barksdale of the USGS.
