Leeds Point Road?

My sister and brother in law are relocating to just outside of A.C.. The house they are looking into right now is off Leed's Point Road, the road is called Stepping Stone Road(900 Stepping Stone, Galloway NJ 08205). My question is it looks like the house they are interested in backs up onto Forsythe. Does anyone know where the boundary starts for the refuge. They wan't to have woods behind them and never get alot of development around them. The house they are interested in is at the end of the coul de sac. I noticed on google earth that there appear to be some roads hehind the house. Is anyone familar with the area(I'm not). I'm curious were boundaries would start for the refuge. Any other comments on the area would be appreciated.

There should be Refuge signs spaced all along the boundary. They look like this;

Tell them to be prepared for gazillions of Greenheads in the summer months if they are anywhere near the marsh. That is also the road where the remains of the house in which the Jersey Devil is reported to have been born is located

Greenheads, and the biggest mosquitoes I've ever seen (or felt)! The refuge is a beautiful area, though.

The Jersey Devil house is "reported"? I thought it was the real one .

Thanks 46er. I warned them about the no see ums, chiggs, ticks, mosquitoes and greenheads. I told them about the Jersey Devil thing as well. I think the house they are looking at is actually on the corner or leeds and stepping stone.

I can't find Stepping Stone Road on the maps I have, just a Stoney Hill Road.

46er its the development or attempt at a development across from Harlequin Drive, green teal drive. I don't think its marked on google earth. Seems like maybe it was going to be a 5-10 house development and the real estate market killed it.

If you look at the end of the road, at the circle, and continue a short distance, I'm pretty sure you can see the refuge border line. The field with the bushes is on the refuge side. A bit more to the SE is the refuge drive and their experimental pool.

I would suggest they speak with the refuge manager, the headquarters are a very short distance from there. He could provide all the details of property boundries. They are open during the week only and are on Great Creek Road..

Umbrellas can come in handy at times due to Snow Geese blastoff's :rofl: Kidding aside, that would be a fantastic place to live.

I don't know exactly where this road is and can't seem to find it but if you set your borders on in google earth natural areas the border of forsyth will show up as a green line.open your sidebar and go down to Borders and open that up and check the borders of all national parks and such and one of those will turn on the border for forsyth.i always keep these on and it shows up on mine.

Al, ,that option is under the 'Parks and Recreation Area' tag. I've attached a screen capture of the area under question, it's pretty much what I thought.

What is the deal with the experimental pool?

Interesting the way that Google Earth doesn't agree with my USGS data. That little triangular spike looks a lot like bad data, unless the feds purchased it recently (my data is about a year old). And the location of the boundary doesn't match some of the other features by quite a bit.

I wonder which is right? I would put my money on the USGS data since I *know* what that came from. If that's the case, then you could be on private land and think you're inside a park.

What is the deal with the experimental pool?

Its been called the experiment pool since before I started going there in the early 60's. Quite some time ago, while speaking to the refuge manager I asked him what the experiment at the experimental pool was, and he had no idea, but that's what the pool has always been called.

Today at the refuge there were two immature Bald Eagles perched on the uprights on either side of one of the new osprey nesting platforms. When they took off they caused a lot of consternation among the hundreds of snow geese nearby.

I think they are both a bit off. That one light blue road that extends up from the ciruclar road towards the center and ends, is the songbird trail and is within the refuge. A current trail map at the link.

The guvmint tried to raise giant Great Blue Herons there back in '68, to help with the giant frog problem at the Wells Mills frog farm.
