it's a bird, it's a plane, it's 4 planes. It's the Blue Angels!

Wait a minute, scratch that. I was looking forward to seeing them; saw the T'Birds at McGuire a couple years back and it was a great show.

You know, I love the Angels and the Thunderbirds, and have seen both teams probably four or five times, but for an aviation buff it might just be the case that the Millville show will be a lot more pleasant to attend now that they're out of the lineup. I bet there will be far fewer people, easier parking, etc.

We were going to watch them from the vintage races next door, our primary reason for going. They had similar simultaneous events back in '08.

When I was a kid, my Dad bought a used 1952 Jaguar convertible. It was a real oddity in St. Louis back in the 1950's... I remember we would drive around town and people would literally run to curb and ask what it was. :) looked something like this:

'Tis a shame you still don't have it. It's an XK-120, which was followed by the XK-140 and then the XK-150. All were very simlar in looks. In good shape worth $50-80K now; the 150 more toward $100K.

Should be a couple at the Millville races this weekend.

Remember the scene in "The Blues Brothers" where the car goes off the highway ramp? They actually dropped a car from a helicopter in Chicago to film that. On the "making of" feature included on the DVD, they say it was quite a hassle to prove that "cars don't fly" and get FAA approval. They hired aeronautical engineers to show that the car would just drop into the vacant lot and not fly into a building.
