Loss of a young friend from New Kuban

I am very sad to report the loss of Brendan Gormley (24), a local resident and brother to my daughter’s best friend. He perished in an awful home fire last Friday night.

We’ve been busy trying to help salvage what’s left, and console the family during this very trying time. Support from the community has been tremendous.

Their home was one of the original structures from the Cossack community of New Kuban. It is adjacent to the monastery erected for Father Adam, a famous Ukrainian mystic who passed away in 1991 at the age of 106.
