Hello All,

First time poster, long time reader.

I want to hike into the Manumuskin River Preserve. Saw pictures on Yummygal's site and it looks interesting. I Googled the area and found a spot where Port Elizabeth-Cumberland Rd (County Rd 646) crosses the train tracks (Lat 39.335090, Long -74.961416) and was wondering if anyone knows if that is a good and safe place to park and hike in up the tracks? There seems to be a large area there with a lot of tire tracks that looks like others have parked and hiked in.

Thanks,
Ray

Hi Ray,

I'm the Yummygal. The cops are pretty cool with parking in the vicinity and it should be okay as long as you are on the side of the road. Just be careful the tracks are considered private property. However, it is a good/neat way to hike and explore the preserve. It is one of my favorite places to explore. There are a lot of neat "secret" spots you will see that I do not air publicly. Have fun! This is my favorite web site (the NJ Pine Barrens) I love all these guys/gals here.
