Maybe we should outlaw this

Fan's of the McRib will have to wait a longer to get their fix this year.
McDonald's will not roll out the popular pork sandwich in October, as it has it has in the past in an effort to boost year-end sales.
A memo obtained by Ad Age

says "after looking at ways to strengthen the fourth-quarter 2012 OPNAD calendar," it will be on the menu in time for the holidays in late December.

You trust McDonalds? :D

Really, I'm not the food police, eat whatever you like. I actually stop by McDonalds and get a couple cheeseburgers a few times a year. I just don't get that whole McRib thing. If I want ribs, I'll go to Famous Daves... or (even better) fire up the grill.

If only there really was a rib in McRibs. The quote is from the originator of the McMysteryMeat

Far more revelatory is to hear how the McRib masterminder, Roger Mandigo, a professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, described the process behind making "restructured meat products"

"Most people would be extremely unhappy if they were served heart or tongue on a plate," he observed. "But flaked into a restructured product it loses its identity. Such products as tripe, heart, and scalded stomachs are high in protein, completely edible, wholesome, and nutritious, and most are already used in sausage without objection." Pork patties could be shaped into any form and marketed in restaurants or for airlines, solving a secondary problem of irregular portion size of cuts such as pork chops. In 1981 McDonald's introduced a boneless pork sandwich of chunked and formed meat called the McRib, developed in part through check-off funds [micro-donations from pork producers] from the NPPC [National Pork Producers Council]. It was not as popular as the McNugget, introduced in 1983, would be, even though both products were composed of unmarketable parts of the animal (skin and dark meat in the McNugget). The McNugget, however, benefited from positive consumer associations with chicken, even though it had none of the "healthy" attributes people associated with poultry.

ROME, Ga. (CBS Atlanta) – Police were called to a local McDonald’s in relation to a disturbance caused by a man dressed as the Burger King.

In a police report provided to the Rome News-Tribune, officers indicated that they were summoned to the fast-food restaurant around 1 p.m. on Monday, in response to a call about a suspicious person on the premises.

The person was allegedly resplendent in full Burger King regalia.

Police stated that, upon his arrival, the Burger King mascot reportedly began to hand out free hamburgers to customers, and stopped to take pictures with several children.

Officers were additionally told that one child ran away from the man in fear, the paper learned. The McDonald’s manager told authorities she had approached the unidentified man before calling police. When asked what he was doing, the man allegedly told the manager he was collecting money for charity.

The manager noted to police that at no time did the man collect money while inside the McDonald’s.

Before leaving in his white Acura, the man removed his mask in view of the manager, the paper learned. She then described him as a white, middle-aged man with dark hair, according to the report

McRib or any fast food isn't my thing. I almost never eat it. I will stop and get a hot or cold sandwich before I eat at any of the big names. I can get a huge smoked turkey club for the price of a value meal. But that is just me, my body, my temple. My only weakness when it comes to a greasy burger is White Castle. I can't resist a two bite slider. I think I could eat twenty if I had some barley juice as a primer. Some are buried in the freezer right now, a cure for a late night craving.
