Merle Haggard dies

on his 79th birthday of pneumonia.

"Haggard had lung surgery after a cancer diagnosis in 2008, and he said an early, but incorrect, diagnosis had him thinking he had only a short time to live.

The star said of the misdiagnosis, "It was sort of a disappointment. I was ready to go.""

There are many many great classic country singers but as far as I"m concerned this is the greatest.Just found out a few minutes ago. I have heard other voices perhaps as good but this man has more songs that hit home with me then any other singer in the Classic County genre. I guess He;s visitin with Grandma Harp now after crossing the great Kern River in the sky. On resurrection day I hope he's allowed to set up his eternal homestead some place in Montana after getting every thing coming to Him. Could someone with a better voice then mine please sing sing old Merle back home?

Half the Highwaymen are gone, and the remaining 2 are in their 80's. God, I'm really getting old.

I"ll have to give it a listen.I like Alan too but Merle is my all time favorite Classic Country artist.
