Merry Christmas everyone !
Yesterday was a bit more hectic than I planned, starting out at first light with recovering a 5 pointer I shot Christmas Eve but couldn't find right away. As it turns out, he only went 290' into a heavy swamp and was piled up only about 100' further than where my wife and I stopped looking in the dark Friday night. It was cold Friday night, so I wasn't too concerned but my son warned me that coyotes would find it before I did. And they did. I lost maybe 2-3 lbs of meat off the hind quarters. After skinning and separating all of the various meat cuts from the hams, I just had to fillet off anything with tooth marks.
All other meat was in perfect condition and he is resting quietly in the fridge awaiting final wrapping and labeling.
After that it was family functions all day until I started falling asleep around 8.
