As far as I know (without clicking on the link), Metal Detecting within a state park requires a permit which is virtually impossible. Of course Private Property would be OK aslong as you have permission from the owner.
Correct. I know someone that attempted to metal detect at the Godfrey Bridge Campground and they were told by the Ranger that could not do that there or any other state park, forest, WMA, etc.

I had a friend who thought they found a cannon ball out in the woods, turns out it was just some kind of old large pipe.
