Metal Detector recommendation

I am looking for an entry level metal detector. My immediate interest is in tracing an underground electrical wire in my yard, copper. It is probably down 4 to 6 inches. There are so many detectors out there and I don't want to end up with a piece of junk. I think I may also have fun with it in my future travels.

Minelab Equinox series is the gold standard these days. Nearly any cheap detector will work to find metal a few inches down, however if you want to differentiate between types of metal such as silver or gold vs iron, then that’s where a more expensive detector comes in.

Any Garrett will find copper 4-6 inches down.
