Minor article on turtle deaths in Middle Township.

I love how the article makes it seem they know the exact amount of deaths. I would assume that is how many they know about, or an average.

Thanks for the post!

Turtle Carnage

We recently had constant rain for 4 days. Daytona Beach got 24 inches of rain, more than all the hurricanes (3) in 2004 combined. Soon after, turtles were very active crossing roads on their journeys, their carcasses were seen strewn over every highway and secondary road. There is discussion currently about a road (paid for by the "stimulus" package) in Florida so turtles can cross a road safely. Now if they can teach the turtles english they will follow the road signs. Well, except for the road rage turtles of course.

I'm bummed anytime I see something dead in the road.

Two weeks ago I saw a huge snapper crossing the road on the bend right across the street from the tavern near Ongshat.

Son-of-a-bitch's shell was bigger than 12 inches.

On the way back there was no splat, so he must have made it across safely.

Either that or someone stopped and he's soup now.
