Now this sounds very impressive - will have to try it out. I wouldn't have believed it was possible, but evidently you can put USGS Topos and Satellite photos into a format that will work on Garmin handheld units like the 60csx: http://moagu.com/

Ben,

Did it actually work, or it says it will work?

This is a great find Boyd. I never use the map feature because I hate it. With topo's I will use the map. If this works I am buying it.

Nice find

Boyd, thanks for keeping us informed on the GPS downloads. I'd be lost without you!

I was seriously looking at the Delorme GPS-20 because of its ability to use various mapping and photo sources. The only catch is that it requires a $100 program download from Delorme to use these additional resources.

19.95 sure beat a hundred bucks and I can choose from the many Gamin units available instead of the single handheld GPS that Delorme sells.

Thanks

I'm looking forward to trying it myself, but it sounds somewhat limited, based on the author's own description. We'll see... But if you want *real* USGS topo maps or Google Earth images then you should check out OziExplorer CE, which runs under Windows CE or Pocket PC on a variety of devices. I posted some info on it earlier here:

They just released a new version which is even better. You need to make your own maps, like MOAGU, but they load quickly and allow you to zoom in and out easily. I've been gradually adding them and now has the USGS 24k topos which cover most of Southern NJ. It will be interesting to see how well these maps convert with MOAGU. Unfortunately they will always be rather limited due to the very low resolution (160x240) of the 60csx screen.
