The goal of the Monarch Monitoring Project, for which the 23-year-old is a special assistant this fall, is to tally up each fall’s brood and track as many of them as possible. Typically, a few of their tagged butterflies are reported each year along the monarch’s 3,000-mile journey from Canada to the mountain range in central Mexico where they hibernate each winter.

I haven't seen a Monarch for a few years. I used to plant Swamp Milkweed in the yard for them.
