Quite a few years ago on 10/25/2003 Jessica and I discovered a car in the woods while looking for property stones. For some reason I did not save the coordinates and I have looked again for it a couple of times without a result. Yesterday, while looking over aerial photos I noticed this.

So today we traveled there and sure enough we found it again. Here it is in 2003.

So what year and model is it? This photo gives us a clue to the year. Since I worked in a gas station when unleaded gas first arrived, I know for a fact that 1975 was the first year unleaded gas was required. So even though unleaded gas was available in 1974 I suspect this car must be a 1975 or newer. As for the model I only know for sure it is a Mopar. Most likely Dodge or Plymouth.

I could not find it. I did get a few numbers but they most likely will not help.


Under the hood on the area just below the wiper blades.

The radiator number says it is a 1974 Dodge Charger which may be correct as it is also used on the 1975. I say it is 1975 because that was the first year unleaded was required. We pumped unleaded gas in 1974 to clear out the tanks and get people starting to use it. It was spring of 1974 when the pumps were put in getting ready for the early 1975 models.

A Dodge Polara comes to mind.

PS: I had platform shoes that color. May have worn them to the Villa Del Pino.

She is always eating.

Polaris ended in 1974 I believe. I still have not come up with the model.

I looked it over last night and came to the same conclusion. However, the read lights themselves are different. On the car in the woods the backup lights are on the inside with two red lights on the right, and in all other vehicles I saw the backup light is in the center.

It can't be. Unleaded gas was not around in 1972. Also, the lights are not the same.

Maybe. The only real way to tell by using my photos is from the back.

Okay Bob, you have totally nailed the canted tail light set up and the rubber bumper pads being on the outer ends of the bumper with the Monaco. Now we are left with rectumfying the reverse light being next to the license plate on the woods car vs being in the center of two reds on the Monaco.
Since Dodge, Plymouth and Chrysler were all the same cars, we still have some hunting to do.
