“The map will enhance safety, improve access to emergency responses and protect the integrity of sensitive habitats, according to the state Department of Environmental Protection. Emergency access is a priority for the DEP in the fire-prone forest.”
Fixing that bridge would enhance safety and improve access more than closing the road.
You are probably right. But to stand on that bridge and say that their priority is to improve access to emergency is crazy. If somebody has a medical emergency while hiking out to see the swamp monster it’s not like any emergency service will be able to make it out there in any reasonable amount of time. Also, I can’t help but wonder how much smaller the Mullica River Fire would have been if that bridge was still open like it was the last time it burnt.
