Some of my most favorate shots!
River otter (Lutra canadensis)

It was my best day when I saw this guy! It's in an old cranberry farm close to the Lebanon Lake. He (she?) didn't seem to be bothered by me. Behaved like a small puppy, rolling around on the dike (sand bathing!)

Isn't he cute?! By the way, when I saw him there were also five or six double-crested cormorant in the same reservoir. I hope all of them can get enough fish to eat. I haven't seen the otter since then...

Belted Kingfisher (Megaceryle alcyon)

Picture was taken in Whitesbog. Should be a female!

Summerbug, it is very tough to see a otter during the day, I have seen two one swimming and one diving in the water off a downed tree. They are suppose to be active during the day but only if it is a undisturbed area. You can normally find there tracks and scat in the same spot over and over they use these routes constantly from what I've found. Here is a family my spy cam caught last summer,

Your very lucky to get a shot of one during the day, where you suprised by how big they are? I know I was.

Nice shots. I saw an otter once not too far from where you were, still in Lebanon but a different bog system. I saw him in the water, made a looping motion like the loch ness monster :D

Thanks for sharing the photos, they are all very nice!

I'm so jealous! I've seen the "leavings" of otters a lot while out paddling, their slides, footie prints and garbage dumps, but I've never had the pleasure of seeing one in person.
