I swear this is the type of stuff you only find in the pines *lol*

A couple of weeks ago, I tagged along with my husband when he returned to the housing development that he and a crew from the Magnolia Road fire company had protected during the wildfires. He had been asked by the webmaster of the company website if he could go down there, speak with some of the residents, and take photos of the recovering pines. I went, just for the chance to hike around in the pines with a camera. As I wandererd about snapping some pictures, I first came across what looked, oddly enough, like a stone table leaning on its side. I smiled to myself thinking about what possible purpose this thing could serve, and how it came to be back there. Walking along a bit deeper, I then came across what would appear to be an old foundation of somesort as well as some concrete tube looking things probably left over from the housing devlopment. I posted some pictures of my findings, you can see them at http://gallery.njpinebarrens.com/showgallery.php?cat=519. Just a little something I found interesting while hiking the pines. If you haven't seen them, I also have photos from during the forest fire that can be seen at http://gallery.njpinebarrens.com/showgallery.php/cat/517, and the aftermath of the fire found at http://gallery.njpinebarrens.com/showgallery.php?cat=524

Nice photo's. Thanks.

The pipe graveyards are quite common in the pines. There is a large one near Atsion.

It would appear that you have photographed a septic / sewer graveyard. The Large round concrete disc appears to be a septic tank cover, while the rectangular piece with the hole looks like the top of a septic tank. The pipe segments are most likely sewer pipe. You are probably right that they originate from the development nearby (likely vestiges of planned but incomplete work).

Just a few observations...

Guy,

This is on Hampton road, isn't it? Those pipes are made of metal from what I recall. I always wondered who had dumped them and why the State hasn't removed them.

I know where your talking about Gabe. I recall that those are metal and on the left as you are headed toward Hampton Furnance from 206 right? I suspect that they were intended to provide water flow under Hampton road but were disgarded or replaced and just forgotten about.

That's two different pipe locations not very far from each other, i would also like to find out the manufacturer of these, and especially who discarded them there!!!!

Yeah, that's them. Leaving them there was a major asshole move.

I agree. Plenty of others places to put them. When i was a little kid we used one of them as a fort. A little rough to the eye but for a kid thats a different story.
