I was down Mott's a few weeks ago for the 19th annual Mott's Creek Crab tournament (my son won by the way). While we were out on the water, I saw what I believe to be some very fine backwoods kayak ingenuity.
I didn't have my camera but a friend took a regular picture of it in the parking lot and I took a picture of his picture a week ago.
The guy took two kayaks and spanned them with plywood. he screwed and glued the woood to the gunwhales every which way he could and then mounted a Nissan outboard to it. It seats two and motors along right well.
Mott's is the most down to earth, rough-hewn shore town you will ever come across in NJ and you all owe yourselves a visit if you've never been.
I have been in the crab tournament, which is semi-invitational and not affiliated with the bar, the last couple of years and it is one hell raisin', beer swillin' good time.
I used to think I drank too much until I met these boys. It helped me put my drinking problem into perspective.
Speaking of drinking, the bar is actually open all year !
