Beck is really something, ain't he? He wrote:

"...when the first airplanes dared a crossing of the Forked River Mountains—one of them dropped from sight In the wilderness 15 years ago and was never heard of again..."

He makes you want to go look for things. He said the same thing about a plane going down in the swamp near Presidential Lakes. I spent a whole day fighting briars looking for it when I was 30. Loved every minute of it.

I would be interesting to find a plane now that crashed years ago.

His writing is interesting. He makes the FRM out to be some impassable mountain that planes dare not try to cross. I still think of the woman at Batsto when I was there this year looking over the FRM Coalition map, and laughing that it was called a mountain.

Ben...thanks for the interesting read. Very nice!

80% of the people who walk up to the booth ask "where are the mountains"? "I've lived here all my life and there ain't no mountains"! About 5% sneer and snicker.

It got so bad we made a map on a brochure and give it out when they ask.
