Hey everyone! I'm always looking for new sites about the Pine Barrens and this is the best one to date. I have lived in Indian Mills (the gen-x'ers call it Shamong . . . I was not old enough to vote against it at the time), since 1985. My friends and I usually hang out in Wharton State Forest and camp/explore as well.

I love this area and get in frequent qualms with my fellow college students from North Jersey about how this area is misunderstood and underrated.

Even though I will only be in this area for a couple more weeks (studying abroad in New Zealand until December), I look forward to good discussions and events when I come back.

PS: Saw a huge diamondback rattlesnake on Rte. 579 in Chatsworth as I was driving home from the shore on Sunday.

Peace,
Justin

Ya mean a timber rattlesnake? Oh, that's cool! (as long as you're in the car!) Good thing Jeff wasn't with ya! :bounce:

And I'll always be a snake charmer.

Seriously, it's bloodsucking ticks, yellow jackets, greenheads, blackflys and other intrusive varmits that I REALLY HATE!

Ticks greenheads yellow jackets hassle mankind
I will kill any of them that I find
It's that way that I did choose
I have something to win
And bites stings Lyme disease to lose

First to Renee, congrats on being a Piney!

Next Justin welcome to Ben's site. Since you are the first one I believe who is from Indian Mills on this site I have a few questions. Is this still the Indian Mills municipal building? I was wondering if the town had outgrown it yet.

Here is a view of it on the left in 1981 with the Red Mens Hall the main building.

Guy,

Yes, that is still our municipal building. It's great to still have the small town appeal kept even though new families are building $350,000+ houses on every available acre of former farm fields.

If this building is what I think it is, it is directly across from the municipal building. However, now it is a Pre-School/Home called "Noah's Ark." A friend I knew from middle school lived there and his mom owned the Pre-School.

Peace,
Justin
