I have been exploring Pineland streams recently. I am fascinated by the marsh, wetlands, savannahs, and swamps (some cedar and some maple) that border them. Hard to access in the dark but worth the effort. I've waded a few and crossed some in hip boots.
I bought a small fishing kayak a few years ago, and finally this fall put it in the water, but dressed in hip boots and with my 30 lb backpack failed miserably and paddled right back. I am now thinking a super light kevlar canoe might be the ticket, as suggested by former member of this forum. But the cost is ridiculous.
