Every night My girlfriend, son and myself usually cruise the western side of Wharton. This helps put my son to sleep and also I keep an eye on local dumping and trash status. Sometimes even check in at a few geocaches. Last night was a little out of the normal though. I was cruising towards the end of Atsion road (dirt) where the bridge for the Mullica is and noticed a helicopter staying in the same area looking lie it may have been out by Atsion Lake. I figured it was either a medevac getting ready to land or a news copter. I continued my way towards Goshen, and at this point the helicopter was pretty much circling us with its spot light looking in the woods. HMMMMM we were wondering if someone was on the loose or whatnot, then the light got shined right on my car. I stopped in my own tracks and figured they were gonna have the Park Police meet me on the trail or something, but then he continued spotting the woods around me. I continued my way towards the campground and once i approached it i noticed alot of lights moving around. As I got closer I noticed about 10 state police vehicles and at least 1 park police vehicle. Seconds later a trooper approached me and asked if I seen anyone running around on my travels.(i didn't). Well apparently. there was a canoe spotted in the pond with none in it and pants and shoes sitting upon shore. He allowed me to continue on my way and just told me if i saw a guy walking around without shoes and pants to notify the red lion barracks.
To top it off my Father who lives at an entrance on the western boundary of Wharton (tremont ave entrance), had the doorbell ring at 2am. he figured it was someone stuck and didn't bother answering due to the fact that he has nothing to pull out a stuck vehicle with and knew I wouldn't want to come out and do it. still curious if they found the guy or if he's underwater in goshen
