Scott and All,

You may remember a while back I posted about the air strip off of Chew road that mentioned Rusnaks. Well, I was looking over the Topo Maps for my GPS and it also is on there, showing it's location somewhat more defined. It was located between the Cemetery and the tracks.

And here is another interesting air strip I found on the map at 72 and 539. It was called Lentine South.

It was located right where that sand company is. The aerial photo still looks like a landing strip.

Anyone know anything about Lentine South?

Guy:
I still haven't had the opportunity to ask Frank Rusnak about the airstrip.
If I had to guess, which I am doing now, it may have been set up for use by the Forest Fire Service .
Rusnak's have always cooperated with those guys allowing them to park equipment on their property etc. when they are burning or cutting plow lines.
They also land medi-vac helipcopters there for accident work and did so about a month ago when a kid from our neighborhood whacked a tree on Chew just east of Rusnak's.

I just was looking over the Toop maps for Garmin, and right at the grass area next to the mansion in Atsion it says "Atsion Helistop". So they must also use or have used the field there to land helicoptors.

There is actually quite a bit to explore there judging by the terraserver. Do you see the very small pond with a road leading down to it just to the left of the airfield? And the savannah grass areas?

And the very vivid demarcation line where the pygmy pines begin? And just what is this geographical feature?

Interesting! That is a sizable chuck of property with few roads. A good spot to find hidden things.

We should not be asking these questions, we should be there solving them :)

Bob,

I just realized I have been there before. That white area at the bottom right is the former gun club that we have discussed before on this site.

Those pygmy pines in that area are brutal. I gave up trying to find some things there with my brother and Jessica.
