Batsto - An old view of the mansion and the general store/post office from around 1907. I posted this out on FB earlier today but figured I ought to put it here as well. It probably isn't unique or anything but what the heck

Strange to think that when the photo was taken, Charles Reed was dead for, what, 130 years? That is longer than that photo is to us.

Found this 1911 picture of the dam or at least what is said to be the Batsto dam a little bit ago. Once again, probably not unique but new to me.

Agreed. May have been an inordinately high flow at the time, which is the reason they photographed it. Brings into sharp focus the PBX trip of May 2002 "Begin the Batsto" wherein we stood in the very beginning of that stream in 2" of water north of route 532.
