This was my first time going out in the winter. The water looks so crisp/blue etc compared to the summer

Perfect weather for it!

You need to set up your gallery and then you could easily link to them. I tried to link to the attachments but they are too large to display directly in the post. The gallery would have allowed you to do that.

was there much ice out there? i would have predicted that it'd mostly be frozen, maybe with a narrow channel in the middle, but from your pictures the water looks clear.

You should try to take the time and upload them to your gallery and link to them. Then you can put them all in one post.

I would put them there myself but I have tried to do that before and for some reason I can't do it. Then again maybe I can but haven't spent the time to figure it out :)

You know how much I love and respect

the Pine barrens. Can somebody give me an exact location of
pygmy pines area. At least within a mile. I've taken dozens of trips into the pine barrens and have never experienced them

thanks ken

A simple drive on Route 539 offers a great introduction to the pygmy pines. Get off the Parkway at Exit 58 and head out west (or north) on 539. You will come upon the pygmy forest on both sides of the road in 3 or 4 miles. The road offers many vistas where one can see for miles in many directions over the tops of the pygmy trees. There are also many turn-off and areas to park for a hike.
