Has anyone heard of canoeing or kayaking through the Great Swamp located
on the Sleeper Branch of the Mullica? Has anyone paddled up the Sleeper from
its confluence with the Mullica (just above Pleasant Mills)?

Ask Ed, he's our resident kayaker...if he hasn't kayaked it, it can't be done.
I've only explored it on foot and belly.

Dear Ed, Fellow Kayaker,
Have you paddled up the Sleeper from the Mullica confluence,
into the Great Swamp? Have you paddled down the Sleeper from
206? Just curious.. Bill W.

Hi Bill,

No, I haven't done that one yet. I bet it's really tight. It would probably make sence to scout it out first, by road and on foot. The next time I'm paddeling down that way I'll try and back paddle it. I just did the Mullica last saturday.

Exploring the Mechescatauxin

Ed, Thanks for the info. Did the Mullica last Saturday when the levels were less
than inviting? Must have been "bony"! I did the Wading with a friend in April when
it was at flood stage--it was like one huge streaming bayou. I even surfed a few
hydraulics. I've seen the Sleeper confluence right after Constable Bridge, but
never had the time to investigate. Want to meet at Pleasant Mills some summer
day and kayak up the Mullica and check out the Sleeper? Or maybe there's a better
put-in behind the cemetery on Veterans or Pinson Way? Let me know if you'd like
to investigate sometime. Bill
