I received an answer from the woman I thought may be able to help us. Here is her edited reply.

You got me on this one, I don't remember ever seeing it, and never heard of the Penn club. I wonder if it once belonged to my school teachers father, Geo. Penn. I can't think of anynone to ask, most, if not all, the old-timers are gone.

Thanks Guy. I had never heard of it either. Next time I'm passing thru Chatsworth I'll stop in Buzby's; Marilyn was working on a book of the clubs.

Maybe the Realtor could be asked? They sometimes know the history of the place somewhat.

The only Penn Gun Club of which I am aware had its origins in Norristown, Pennsylvania in the late nineteenth century.

Best regards,
Jerseyman

Thanks, that's what I found as well. I'm thinking it is creative advertising. I have one more source to check.

Another tip.

Try Tom Gormley at Tip's Hardware in West Creek. Tom & his brother John founded the Bayman's Museum @ Tuckeron Seaport. He or John just might know something about the Penn club.

I did not write the hardware store in the event someone else had or was going to. If nobody has written I will do that.

46er did you write?

Guy

I spoke with a friend that would know about it if it was ever a deer club. He had no recollection of it. I did find out the building was built in 1940 and last sold in 1995 for $35K and at that time had electric heat. The agent never returned my call. It is still on the market, and probably will be for a long time.

I'll be at a meeting with our decoy show committee next week. There will be several older local guys at the meeting that might know something if nothing is brought to light before then.
