I was at the Frankford and Cottman venue, party time incorporated. Besides the World Series win there were two other highlights for me during the regular season, sweeping the 9 games in Atlanta's Fulton County Stadium, and for the second year in a row, denying the Metros once again.

When Lidge's slider slid under the Hinske's swinging bat for that final out ... oh, boy! One of those moments that will live forever in the slightly faltering memory bank. Act 2 of Game 5 presented three innings of the most intense, exciting, wildly wonderful baseball I've seen. The abbreviated session was also nice as the game was over early enough for my boys to see that final pitch, instead of the norm with them asking the next morning how things went.

I'm calling my kids out of school tomorrow and am going to let them attend the parade with their friend and his father. (I'd love to go, but work won't allow it). I skipped school to see the Flyers' first parade, back in the '70s, and followed that procession into JFK. That was crazy, but I bet this one will be more so.

I am headed into South Philly around 9am, parking at a buddy's place and entering the belly of the beast- Broad and Snyder. Missed the '74 and '75 Flyers (too young). Missed the '80 and '83 parades, not missing this one!
Bringing some Miller High Life, a little booze, 1980 pennant and a t-shirt to hold up as the floats go by w/ #1 Ashburn and #20 Schmidt. I actually looked for an old school Philly beer tonight but settled for Miller High Life cause its cheap amd my dad always sipped it. My Dad got terminally ill last year when they won the division. He took me to the 1993 NLCS and he attended the home games in '93. I know he will be there tomorrow laughing and carrying on. Yo Pop you can't call them bums anymore!
