A user of our website posted this question. Can any of you help?

I lived in Pine Lake Park (Toms River zip now, I guess) during the 1950's.
I went to school in Manchester Township at Whiting Elementary School. I
want to visit and see where I use to live, but I don't know if Pine Lake
Park exists anymore, and if so what it is called now. I called Tourism, but
they couldn't help me. On one map, I found it and others not seen. Can you
help me locate it? I remember they were always dredging the lake once every
one or two years. I use to walk with my mother down in the dried lake and
always glad to get back on shore. There was an old grape farm and a sandy
site where the sand was yellow and white, used to sink to my ankles in it as
I came down the hill. There was a swampy area with quick sand because the
one road was a dead end as use to be an old model A factory which sank under
the sand. I use to like to talk to the old hermit who use to work at it,,
he seemed so old then. There was housing where the Air Force personnel use
to live (rented). I use to babysit for a family and I was only 9 yrs old at
the time. There was a family who lived in a log cabin style 2 storied home
by the last name of Helms.
There was a war memorial to all veterans which my girlfriends and I use to
play on, it was badly kept at the time and years later I read of the
restoration of it and was glad. We use to have milk delivered by the Lomar
dairy as my father rented our home from him as well as worked for him. The
year we moved to NY (summer of 1959), they were building the new high school
I would have graduated from, but not sure what it was going to be called. I
looked for high schools in the area, but the history on them does not give
year they were built. If you are unable to reach me at this email address,
please send response to deforestsharon@hotmail.com Thank you for any
help.

Pine Lake Park does indeed still exist, they allowed swimming in the lake for the first time in a long time. they just rebuilt the damn, now have paddle boats, and a fountain in the lake.

Route 37 to Commonwealth Blvd, or Route 571 to Commonwealth, and its still the same grid it was. Manchester didnt have its own high school until the 1970's prior to that they attended Lakewood. Now they are planning additions to the HS, and Three elementary schools. And to go from Pine Lake Park to Whiting to elementary school must have been a hike ;-)

Rob I posted this on the other site...perhaps you missed it.

Pine Lake Park is situated between route 571 and route 37 in
Manchester Towship. Starting at the McDonalds in Lakehurst, head east
on route 37 about 3 or 4 miles till you see a WAWA on your left. Make
that jughandle and cross 37 so you are now going roughly North of 37
(I don't recall the road name). Pine lake park starts right up the
road. After a bit make a left and you come to the lake.

I work at Lakehurst and know a Paul Helms. He is about 40 years
old......Bob
