I did not have my camera and zoom lens with us today so I had to use the cell phone. This snake is shedding as you can see by the blue eyes. Up to this point our other endeavors for the morning were a flop, but this surprised us and made the day.

Went back today and did not find the snake. However, while looking we flushed up multiple Nighthawks. And as we always do we went to the location they took off from and found the eggs. This is about 50 feet from where the above snake was at. Not sure if these eggs will survive with the snake around.

The eggs usually arrive late May early June so it fits that in about 18 to 20 days we have to go back and check on the eggs to see if they hatched.

Notice the dry area around the egg where the parent was sitting on them. It appears their quick exit when we arrived may have moved the eggs somewhat.

And on the way back to the car we flushed up a mourning dove and it was faking injury which I did not know they did but online says they do. We did not find the eggs but will check again the next time we go.

I was taking pictures at an industrial jobsite in Somerdale and I had a Killdeer feigning injury in front of me. Every time I moved she squealed and went into the feigning act. Very cool. I couldn't figure out where the nest was that she was protecting.
