I was planning on going Sunday morning. I already have plans for later in the day. Locations to be explored remains an unknown. I usually start of with somewhere that I have been before, then pick a spot that has a name on map, but just isn't here anymore and see what there is to see. If I find something interesting I will usually do research on the place to find out its history.

Perhaps, I'll go to Apple Pie Hill, I've never been there. And I remember seeing something that caught my eye where Carranza Road crosses the JCRR line. Hampton Furnace is near there too.

Yellowspottedcat,

Since you are going to be where Carranza road crosses the JCRR, take a short walk of less than a hundred yards heading east toward Atsion, and on the Carranza side is the cement base of the 90 mile marker for the Central RR. It has some bolts sticking out of it.

While at Apple Pie Hill look for this. No hints.

Hello all, how is everybody. My family and I go wheeling all the time. Nine out of ten times, it's in Wharton and just about every weekend. Friday night we went for about three hours out near Hamptons Furnace and it was absolutely beautiful. Saturday Afternoon we went out again and traveled through Martha. According to the GPS coordinates any way. The Forrest is really dence through Martha but it was still beautiful. We are going out again Sunday afternoon we have not decided the exact spot yet. Who ever goes out on Sunday also, have a great time and I hope you tell us of your travels.

We ended up having a picnic at Howardsville with the dog. The dog really loved running around in the rye fields and chasing the phesants that were there.

I think it's cold enough to not have to worry about chiggers or ticks. Neither myself or Laura had any on us today.

Jes had Chiggers on her last weekend but they were dead, and within a few minutes they had fallen off. They must die on the branches or leaves, but still attach to your clothes. We did have live ticks on both of us.

Has anyone ever noticed the same thing I have that you will get full of ticks in the summer but they only go down head deep and are easy to pull out but when you get a tick on a 50 or 60 degree day in winter he goes in right up to the butt?I mean it takes a pick and shovel to get him out.I wonder if their extra hungry or just cold.you"ll usually only get one but he"s headed for china.
I usually don"t get them in me in the summer because i feel them on my body hairs and pay attention and get em but in the winter I"m not on tick alert and they get me and get me good.
