...."The boat's motor was still running and music was blaring after the collision"......and suddenly, one could hear the popping of a cork on the next bottle.
Tis the season. God truly watches over drunken bennie sailors. The ones on that boat were lucky to put it on the only beach area between bulkheaded homes. Twenty feet left or right and the EMT's would have been very busy. Its about 1/4 mile from home.
Captain: "There will be no drinking on my bridge!"
Crew: Glum faces.
Captain: "We must go to this little room behind bridge and drink there! Come, come, who has ice?"
Reminds me of the boat chase sequence filmed in Louisiana from the James Bond movie "Live and Let Die". There's a great scene where two boats crash through the middle of a wedding.
If you'd like some chuckles on some summer, weekend afternoon when the tide is running, head up to the Pt Pleasant canal which connects upper Barnegat Bay with the Manasquan River. Bring a chair and set awhile. A lot tamer now that they replaced the RT 88 drawbridge, but still fun. Those were the days....
In this latest adventure, the boats operator has been charged with DWI.
