Sometimes this time of year I get a crowded feeling because of so many hunters in the woods but I tells myself that if it weren't for these guys they'd be no woods for me to run around in.Hats off to hunters.

Hunters support NJ outdoors by way of funding habitat purchases and wildlife management that benefit all outdoorspeople (Is that a word ?) through our license and our somewhat staggering permit fees.
It also seems to me that many people have no idea what the Pittman-Robertson Act is. The Act created an 11% excise tax on guns and ammunition way back in 1937 and it has provided over 2 billion dollars for wildlife habitat acquisition and management since its enactment. 11% is a stiff tax when compared to most taxes and is folded into firearms and ammunition purchases. I gladly pay it every time I buy a gun or a box of shells.

Us stone hunters don't have any taxes yet.Shhh! This NJ after all. Stones don't bleed and you don't need any bait for them so their very low maintenance but I must confess trying to eat o e is a terrifying project.
