Wow good find !

Sorry I sent all on a goose chase as the info I had was wrong. Which placed it up 539 by the ATT building.

I see it in GE but not Google yet.

Thanks,

Mike

Well it was a chase that ended with the goose in the net, so all's good as far as I am concerned :). And I have a feeling Guy won't complain, as you've added to his little black book :).

Mike,

No problem. I enjoyed the ride.

Mark,

Some of the streets do look odd. I think I am going to go to the center intersections and look. They are most likely where I would have the best chance of finding something.

Something seems puzzling about this series of posts. Either the original locations cited are wrong (Warren Grove, Stafford WMA, SIM Place Road), or the end result is wrong. I remember seeing a real estate sign from the early 20th century in one of the historical photos, but I can't find it now. It was taken it the pine plains.

Oh well. Happy hunting.

Great detective work everyone! It's even easier to see in the 1930 photo.

I may be at this location on the weekend, so if I find anything I will post.

All,

We visited the Grove Park tract today to try to find the monuments shown on the map that freerider posted in this thread. We parked at the intersection of 539 and Parkertown Road, and walked up the dirt path. The first road that meets that path is Third Ave, and we started searching there. In no time at all Jessica found the first monument that has been there since at least 1926 when the map was made.

Right at that location between Third and Second Ave there is obvious evidence that they were starting to dig to start building. There is a large area dug down over 10 feet at this location.

From there we bushwhacked down Third Ave to E Street. That is the main road that runs north and south down the middle of the development. It was obvious that the monuments of this development were semi recently surveyed and there may be building going on eventually. All the way up and down E street there is survey tape hanging in the trees and extending down to the monuments at each road that connects. We found both of them at Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Ave and saw there were obviously more in the distance. We stopped looking at that point and headed on.

Here are a few of them.

Here are the locations of the one’s we found. I am certain there are more.

Unfortunately, during our time there I had some problems. Right after we arrived and Jessica found the first monument, I was bushwhacking down Third Ave, and a tree branch went into my ear. It was a major thrust that was extremely painful and instantly I knew I had problems. The normal ringing in my ears from tinnitus escalated higher than it has ever been, even before I could even get the branch pulled out. I yelled and could tell there was some sort of damage, since it seemed I was underwater. And I had instant hearing loss. I continued on to the rest of the locations even when burping a few times caused painful pressure. Much like when your ears pop at high elevations, but with pain.

After we arrived home I went to the local CVS and was checked out at the clinic they now have. The woman told me there was damage and I had to go right away to the ER. So we headed to Voorhees and after 2 hours I learned that my ear drum was punctured and have abrasions elsewhere in the canal. I am on an antibiotic and can’t shower or get water in it until it heals. I have to call an ear specialist on Monday and get a follow-up appointment to see if and when it has healed. Contrary to what many may think they do heal in most instances fully.

How was your day? :bang::cry:

I'm sorry to hear about your injury, Guy. After a few close calls, I started wearing clear shooting glasses when going through thick brush years ago when I worked doing wetland delineations for a consultant. I never would have thought to protect my ears. Hope it heals OK!

Doggone it Guy! Sorry to hear you are injured my Pine Barren Brother. I hope it heals quickly and nothing serious has been done. That is a real freak accident.

Whats with the snow on the ground? None up here in Bamber.

Talk about a freak accident. I've seen people fall on cut saplings and get the usual face whack with a branch but I've never heard of someone getting poked in the ear like that.
Hope it heals quickly for you.
Nice job on the monuments. Looks like they have been surveyed a couple times recently from the faded and somewhat fresh ribbon on them.
