The federal funds also will run new track, continue the rehabilitation of the Salem County Short Line and make rail linkage improvements at the SJPC’s Camden, Salem and Paulsboro ports.The 42-mile rail freight line from Port Salem, through Swedesboro, Paulsboro, Camden and to the Delair Bridge, connecting it to the national rail network, will be upgraded. A new two-mile connection to the new docks under construction in the Paulsboro Marine Terminal will also be built.The 4,396-foot Delair Bridge was constructed in 1896. The span is a lift bridge, which has a section that rises to accommodate ship traffic.The Salem County section consists of two projects: the Oldmans Trestle Rail Bridge replacement at a cost of $3.5 million, including a local match of $500,000, and the short line rehabilitation at a cost of $1.55 million and a local match of $750,000.
