THIS EVENING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MOUNT HOLLY HAS ISSUED A RED FLAG
WARNING. IT IS IN EFFECT FROM 900 AM UNTIL 1000 PM. THE FIRE
WEATHER WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* LOCATIONS...THE POCONOS, THE LEHIGH VALLEY AND SOUTHEASTERN
PENNSYLVANIA, AS WELL AS NORTHWESTERN, CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN NEW
JERSEY.

* WINDS...WEST NORTHWEST AT 15 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 25 OR
30 MPH.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...AS LOW AS 20 TO 25 PERCENT.

* TEMPERATURES...MAINLY IN THE 40S.

* IMPACTS...THERE IS A GREAT POTENTIAL FOR RAPID WILDFIRE SPREAD
TODAY DUE TO THE GUSTY WINDS, LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY AND DRY FINE
FUELS. OUTDOOR BURNING IS NOT RECOMMENDED.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A RED FLAG WARNING MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE
EXPECTED DUE TO A COMBINATION OF STRONG WINDS, LOW RELATIVE
HUMIDITY AND DRY FUELS. ANY FIRES THAT DEVELOP MAY QUICKLY GET OUT
OF CONTROL AND BECOME DIFFICULT TO CONTAIN.

I remember the weather at the time of the big fire in Greenwood April of 1995. It was just as it is now, Windy and colder than it should be for the first week of April.
