All,

Before going there we saw this. It appears to be a fairly young gravid rattlesnake. It was not concerned at all that we were there. We were able to walk within 6 feet of it with absolutely no reaction. Not being an expert I am guessing by the way it looks it was in the process of shedding. Just guessing.

We eventually headed over to Union Clay Works and revisited the location of a well that we have not seen since 2004. Back then the well was mostly covered with a wooden cover.

In the past 12 years the ground has been slowly filling the well in and the wooden cover is gone. It is quite deep.

The user of the well lived here.

I found that well whilst looking for the graves. I love old wells, almost fell into the one next to Batsto Godfreys Bridge road.Didn't know it was there and when I seen it I walked closer not knowing that grass was over hanging the edge.Almost went in.
Guy you do seem to be a Rattler magnet.

I think that the current well bottom is very shallow compared to what it was. Plenty of dirt has washed into it over the years. And many of the bricks have fallen in.
