Rutgers University Marine Research Station nearTuckerton Threatened by Rising Sea Level

That place has go to be one of the most photogenic along our coastline. Unfortunately, it is taking a beating.

Look at historicaerials.com and use the slide feature. Load 1956 and 2015 and slide. It looks like a sea monster bit off 30 acres of land.

It is right at the mouth of Little Egg Inlet; nothing between it and the open ocean and nor'easters doing the damage. That inlet is worse than Barnegat. Used to be a lighthouse on what is called Tucker Island on the Holgate side, but it fell into the ocean. There is a replica of it at the Tuckerton Seaport.

The late Y-Buc Bill from this website owned a sneakbox that was built on Little Beach. Another nearby island that almost saw large scale development until someone had an epiphany and though the better of it.
