Salem Oak largest species of it's kind in NJ

This is the article about the previous largest white oak. It's amazing that at in 1740 it was a majestic oak.

I was reading not long ago that all the Sequoias are in great shape and that a dead sequoia other then the stumps cut my man has never been observed.Fire can't kill them,they seem impervious to disease.They all seem to be either young or in their prime and supposedly a dead one from natural causes has not been observed.Any comments to this?
